Seed Phrases on Paper — A Desk Habit That Still Works
Why handwriting your backup words once beats screenshotting them, and how to store the paper away from your monitor.
Screenshots feel convenient until your photo library syncs to the cloud. For seed phrase backups, paper still wins.
The one-time write ritual
Use a pen, not pencil. Write words in order, check twice against the screen, then disconnect the device before storing the paper. No camera, no printer.
Storage away from the desk
A study desk is for learning, not for hiding secrets. Place backups in a home safe or a locked drawer in another room. If you must keep a hint on desk, use a location code only you understand — never the words themselves.
Software wallets need the same respect
Hot wallets display phrases during setup. Treat that moment like a ceremony: close messaging apps, mute notifications, finish in one sitting.
